Oily Fish Cures Arthritis

Cod liver oil and especially Omega 3 fatty acids are said to be an important factor in the treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis.

Research into the benefits of eating oily fish and taking cod liver oil and Omega 3 supplements has proved that this is not just an old wives tale….this stuff is actually much more important to our health than previously thought.
Rheumatoid Arthritis and heart disease, among others are now known to be strongly linked to inflammation and inflammatory hormones. So strong is this research that NICE (National Institute for Clinical Excellence) recommends that people who suffer heart attacks should eat at least two to four portions of oily fish per week.
Inflammation is a prime factor with Rheumatoid Arthritis causing joints to swell and become incredibly painful as well as producing tiredness and other related symptoms.
The Journal of Biological Chemistry suggests that Omega 3 fatty acids found in oily fish can reduce the activity of enzymes responsible for cartilage damage in Osteoarthritis.
Omega 3 is known to naturally increase Serotonin levels in the body. Low Serotonin levels are associated with depression.
